Announcing a Villanova University Women’s Basketball Game:
One of the most memorable days I can remember is when I was chosen to help announce for a Villanova Women’s Basketball game. Villanova Kid’s Club members would shadow athletic department staff for “Villanova Cat Pack Runs the Show.”
I was selected as the PA Announcer working alongside the official announcer for both men’s and women’s games. regular PA announcer for both men’s and women’s games. It was a dream come true for me and taught me the joy and value of public speaking.
Recording for Save the Children:
In 2012, I volunteered to record a brief statement to be used for a telephone “thank you” to people who signed up to sponsor a child in the United States. My voice represented all children for the Save the Children Freedom from Poverty Campaign, specifically helping children living in hardship in the United States. Poverty affects 1 in 4 U.S. kids and this program was aimed to help children through early childhood education and correspondence.
News Reporting at Teen Kid News:
Teen Kid News is a weekly national syndicated Emmy award-winning TV news show on Channel 9/WWOR-TV that features teenage reporters and stories that interest young people and teens. I have enjoyed reporting on topics that range from makeup tips to video game addiction to conserving water and saving the planet. You can see some of the stories I reported here.
Impacting Change through Documentaries:
By creating documentaries for non-profit organizations, I am able to pursue my passion for broadcast journalism while helping to make a positive impact on our world. My love for film is not only limited to documentaries. I also coordinated Sacred Heart’s 2018 Film Festival and served on the planning and selection committee. I was selected Assistant Executive Producer and will help lead through class supervision, project ideas, guidance, and outreach.
I proudly represented the Broadcast Journalism program as a student speaker on a panel of broadcast students, alumnae, media professionals and parents.
